Kearney man charged in Keith County with 13 counts of sexual assault of a child

KEARNEY — A Kearney man, a lifetime sex offender, has been charged in Keith County with 13 counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

Shane Fox, 48, is facing 13 counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child, a Class 1B felony.

An arrest warrant was issued on April 30, and Fox was arrested in Kearney and booked into the Buffalo County Jail. An arraignment date in Keith County Court has yet to be set.

According to an affidavit submitted in court, on Sept. 21, 2021, the Ogallala Police Department was advised that an 18-year-old female had disclosed to a forensic interviewer with Capstone Child Advocacy Center in Sidney that she had been sexually assaulted by Fox.

It was stated that the sexual assaults began when the 18-year-old was in middle school and that the assaults happened, “a lot.” A further interview with Capstone was held in October 2021 and Bridge of Hope in North Platte in 2023.

According to the complaint, the sexual assaults are alleged to have occurred from October 2012 through June 2018.

According to the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry, Fox is registered as a lifetime sex offender due to a first-degree sexual assault conviction in October 2019 that originated in Keith County.

Fox was sentenced to 10-20 years in the 2019 case. According to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, he was released on parole in January 2024.

According to court records, there are two separate victims in the 2019 and 2025 cases.
