KEARNEY — The rhythm of learning and joy will echo beyond the school walls as students from Meadowlark Elementary’s Drum Circle bring their musical talents to two local senior living communities on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The student performers will showcase their skills on the djembe, dun duns, shakers and cowbells, all traditional African instruments, which they have been learning throughout the school year. The group will perform at Brookdale at 1:00 p.m., followed by a second performance at Country House at 2:00 p.m.
“This experience is a wonderful opportunity for our students to share the joy of music with others while connecting generations through rhythm and community,” said the Meadowlark music instructor, Angela Wright. “It’s a chance for students to give back in a meaningful way while celebrating what they’ve learned.”
The Drum Circle has explored a variety of African rhythms and group performance techniques, building not only musical talent but teamwork and cultural appreciation.
Families and community members are encouraged to celebrate this unique outreach performance and the students’ hard work.
