HASTINGS — A GoFundMe page has been created after an accident left a Hastings mother in the ICU and 12-year-old son was injured.
A head-on crash on West Second Street near North Washington Avenue in Hastings which ended with a car going into a house.
On scene a red Chevrolet pickup and black mini-van were found in the eastbound lanes of Second St. A gray Ford pickup had crashed into a nearby home.
There is now a GoFundMe to support the two people who were seriously injured in the crash. The fundraiser identifies them as a woman from Hastings named Jelena and her 12-year-old son. Jelena is unconscious in the ICU in an Omaha hospital. Her son is in a hospital in Lincoln.
“The family’s world has been turned upside down. They moved to America just three years ago to start a new life filled with hope,” the fundraiser says. “Dad is the sole breadwinner for the family, and has had to stop working to be by their side. They don’t have many earthly possessions and don’t have any family in America for support.”
