The 22nd-ranked Nebraska Kearney women’s tennis team picked up the program’s 10th NCAA Tournament win after a 5-1 decision over Central Oklahoma Monday afternoon in Topeka, Kan.

Seeded third in the Central Region, the Lopers (19-5) advance to take on second seed and No. 14 Washburn (17-3) Tuesday at noon. The winner advances to the “Sweet 16” in Florida May 19-23; the ‘Bods downed the UNK, 4-3, earlier this season in Kearney.

This was the third straight meeting with UCO (14-6) as the two teams met in the regular season finale in Edmond, then played in the MIAA Tournament semifinals a week later in Springfield, Mo. The Lopers won in Oklahoma, 5-2, but the ‘Chos turned the tables in Missouri, 4-2 and then won the following day to take the title and earn the MIAA’s auto bid to the championships.

DALLAS MAVERICKS WIN THE NBA DRAFT LOTTERY AND THE CHANCE TO PICK COOPER FLAGG NO. 1 OVERALL:

CHICAGO (AP) — The ping-pong balls have spoken: Cooper Flagg might be headed to Dallas to start his NBA career.

And a fan base that lost Luka Doncic this season might have a new star to cheer for.

The Mavericks won the NBA draft lottery on Monday night, giving them the No. 1 pick in next month’s draft — and the first chance to take Flagg, the freshman who led Duke to the Final Four in his lone college season and the consensus player of the year.

A screaming-for-joy Mark Cuban called new Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont — who was at his child’s track meet — with the happy news, and just like that, there’s something to root for in Dallas again after a tumultuous few months where Doncic got traded and the Mavs missed the playoffs. Cuban was so excited that Dumont evidently couldn’t even make out the words he was saying. He just figured they were good ones.

YANKEES 3B OSWALDO CABRERA LEAVES GAME VS. MARINERS IN AMBULANCE FOLLOWING AWKWARD HOME PLATE SLIDE:

SEATTLE (AP) — Yankees third baseman Oswaldo Cabrera was taken off the field in an ambulance after he injured his left ankle in the ninth inning of New York’s 11-5 victory over Seattle on Monday night.

Cabrera was hurt on an awkward slide when he reached back for the plate and scored the Yankees’ final run on Aaron Judge’s sacrifice fly.

Manager Aaron Boone said Cabrera had a brace put on his left ankle before entering the ambulance on a stretcher. Cabrera was taked to a hospital with team athletic trainer Tim Lentych.

“I think everyone understands it was a pretty serious situation,” Boone said. “So, just praying for our guy (Cabrera) tonight and hoping for the best. Trust that he’s in good hands as he goes through the night here.”

Cabrera, a 26-year-old native of Venezuela writhed on the ground and stayed down for several minutes while being attended to by various medical personnel.

Cabrera is in his fourth MLB season and has become a regular in the Yankees’ lineup. He is hitting .243 this season with one home run and 12 RBIs.

INDIA, PAKISTAN CRICKET LEAGUES RESUME PLAY AFTER CEASEFIRE REACHED:

ISLAMABAD (AP) — The Pakistan Super League is set to resume this weekend after a ceasefire between Pakistan and India.

Pakistan and India agreed to a truce last Saturday after talks to defuse their most serious military confrontation in decades.

The Pakistan-based Twenty20 league was suspended last Thursday after an Indian drone fell near the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, which was due to host a game featuring foreign players from Australia, England, South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand and Afghanistan.

On Monday, the world’s most lucrative T20 league — the Indian Premier League — also announced the resumption of the tournament. The IPL will run from Saturday until June 3. The Punjab Kings-Delhi Capitals game abandoned in Dharamsala in the 11th over on Thursday will be replayed.
