KEARNEY — The Kearney High School JROTC program presented end of year awards to all Cadets on May 15, 2025 in the Scott D Morris Institute.
KPS Superintendent Mr. Jason Mundorf and KHS assistant principal Ty Swarm were on hand with JROTC Cadre to present the awards. The awards presented included promotions for Cadets, awarding of the Good Conduct Ribbon, Service-Learning Ribbon, Personal Appearance Ribbon, and Student Government Ribbon.
Three Cadets were also recognized for their outstanding performance throughout all school activities with awards being presented for the Senior Army Instructor Leadership Award, Distinguished Cadet Award for Scholastic Excellence, and the Superior Cadet Award. The KHS JROTC program is led by Major David Stott and Sergeant First Class (Retired) Timothy Ullman.

Senior Army Instructor Leadership Award: Awarded annually to one Cadet per academic level whom displays the highest degree of leadership.
This year’s recipient is Cadet Emily Drackley
Distinguished Cadet Award for Scholastic Excellence: Awarded annually to one Cadet who exhibits the highest degree of excellence in scholastics. This award is presented by the district superintendent, Mr. Jason Mundorf.
This year’s recipient is Cadet Gavin Townsend
Superior Cadet Award: Awarded annually to the overall outstanding Cadet for each academic level. This is a national award that is accompanied by a US Army medal set and award signed by the brigade commander. This award is also presented by the district superintendent, Mr. Jason Mundorf.
