Weather permitting, US Highway 30 (US-30) from Lexington to Overton will be detoured May 21, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. United Contractors, Inc., of Johnstown, Iowa, is the contractor for this railroad viaduct project.
Placement of bridge girders for the new county road 435 viaduct requires the temporary closure of US-30 east of Lexington. Traffic will be detoured to Interstate 80 (I-80) during the girder placement.
Five detours are anticipated for girder placement over the Union Pacific Railroad, tentatively scheduled for May 21, 22, 28, 29, and 30. The daytime detours are expected to be approximately three hours each.
Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
