CURTIS — On May 16, 2025, at around 9 p.m., the Frontier County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Highway 23 in Curtis for a report of a discharge of a firearm. When the Sheriff’s Office arrived, the weapon had been removed from the individual and was secured by a bystander.
Sheriff Michael Jordan says that upon investigation, it was determined that a male fired one round in an attempt to harm himself. The Sheriff’s Office conducted interviews with individuals and witnesses. The individual was taken into Emergency Protective Custody without further incident. Due to the sensitive nature of the event, no names are being released.
