NEBRASKA — During the month of April 2025, twenty people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
- These 20 fatalities occurred in 19 fatal crashes.
- Four of the fifteen vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, seven were using a seatbelt, and four had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
- Fourteen of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
- There was one fatality on the interstate, ten on other highways, and nine on local roads.
- One of the fatalities was a pedestrian.
- Four of the fatalities were motorcyclists.
- There were 24 fatalities in April of 2024.
- Only 19 of the 56 vehicle occupants killed during 2025 were using seatbelts.
The Federal Highway Administration definition for urban is an area with a population of 5,000 or more.
