COZAD — Weather is believed to be a factor in the fatal motorcycle accident that resulted in a Wyoming man being killed on Interstate 80 in Dawson County on Sunday, May 18.
Around 11:20 p.m. Nebraska State Patrol and the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported crash on I-80.
A preliminary investigation revealed that an eastbound motorcyclist was eastbound amid heavy rainfall and strong winds when they crashed around four miles east of Cozad.
The motorcycle was then struck by an eastbound semi. The motorcyclist was identified as Michael Schutt, 62, of Sherian, Wyo. He was declared deceased at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
