The Kearney Catholic Girls track and field team dominated at Burke Stadium Friday and Saturday to win the NSAA Class C Track team title.
The Stars had six first place finishes, including a new meet record set by Alyssa Onnen in the pole vault, to win the meet by 29 points over runner-up Syracuse, 79-50. Bishop Neumann (Wahoo) took third.
Of those six first place finishes, Hazel Haarberg had three (100m, 200m, Long Jump) and Onnen added the Triple Jump title with her title in the pole vault. Jaelyn Witter would round out the titles with a win in the 3200-meter run (11:41.97).
Sandy Creek would see success in the distance races, with Madison Shaw winning the 1600, and joined Emma Fisher, Paige Stengel, and Anna Paus to win the 4×800 relay.
Haarberg and Onnen were joined by Sheridan Falk of Nebraska Christian as multi-event winners from the area. Falk won both the Class D Long Jump (18-01.75) and 100m hurdles (14.82). The Eagles also were runner-up in the 4x800m relay.
On the boys side, Axtell had a pair of state champions in Jake Halvorsen (110M Hurdles, 15.34) and Luc Lopez (800M, 1:58.28). Halvorsen and Lopez were two of seven local champions in Class D.
