SEASON STARTS FOR KEARNEY MISKO SENIORS TONIGHT IN NORTH PLATTE:

The homestand for the Kearney Misko Sports Seniors is supposed to start tonight, weather permitting. The Misko Seniors welcome Grand Island Home Federal.

Today’s game schedule could be altered because of rain that moved through Kearney last night and further rains that could move in today.

KGFW Coverage starts at 7:30, with the Family Physical Therapy and Sports Center Pregame Show at 7:15.

SUH ON BALLOT TO MAKE HOF:

Nebraska great Ndamukong Suh is one of 79 players on the 2026 ballot for the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame.  Suh is included on the ballot in his first year of eligibility.

Suh had a dominant career at Nebraska from 2005 to 2009, capped by a 2009 season that is widely regarded as one of the best individual seasons in college football history.

As a senior, Suh led Nebraska in tackles for the second straight season with 85 tackles. He also became the first defensive lineman to lead Nebraska in tackles in consecutive seasons. He also led the team in tackles for loss (24), sacks (12), quarterback hurries (26) and blocked kicks (3).

Suh will look to join 20 former Husker players and seven Nebraska coaches who are members of the College Football Hall of Fame. The announcement of the 2026 NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class will be made in early 2026, with specific details to be announced in the future.

KEARNEY’S WEBBER TRANSFERS TO LA LUMIERE :

Kearney High boys basketball took a massive hit yesterday, as top 2026 prospect Jacob Webber announced last night that he would be transferring to the La Lumiere School in Indiana.

The 4-star sharpshooter, who was offered by Nebraska and Creighton, alongside Iowa when it was led by former head coach Fran McCaffery, led the Bearcats in scoring last year. He averaged 21.7 points per game.

The Bearcats will look to replace nine of the players that they dressed for varsity action last year, losing eight seniors. Leyton Paider is the top returning scorer, as he averaged 6ppg last season.

TEXAS TECH ENDS OKLAHOMA’S 4-YEAR RUN AS WOMEN’S COLLEGE WORLD SERIES CHAMP WITH WALK-OFF 3-2 WIN:

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma’s run of four straight Women’s College World Series titles ended when Lauren Allred’s walk-off sacrifice fly gave Texas Tech a 3-2 victory in the semifinals on Monday night.

Coach Patty Gasso’s Sooners (52-9) were down to their last strike in the top of the seventh inning when Abigale Dayton summoned a bit of magic, hitting a tying two-run homer off Red Raiders ace NiJaree Canady. It was just her third longball of the season.

But the Red Raiders (53-12) responded quickly in the bottom half. Mihyia Davis singled with one out and Hailey Toney followed with a double. Allred hit a fly ball to right field and Sydney Barker’s throw to the plate was wide, allowing Davis to score easily.

“Congratulations to Texas Tech,” Gasso said. “They earned that. They played well. They hit well. They pitched well. So well deserved.”

Texas Tech, in its first trip to the WCWS, will play Texas in the best-of-three championship series starting Wednesday. The Longhorns reached the finals for the third time in the past four years. They lost to Oklahoma in 2022 and 2024.
