GRAND ISLAND — A suspect was arrested after a 9-year-old girl riding a scooter and was struck by a vehicle and the driver left the scene on Tuesday, June 3.

According to the Grand Island Police Department, officers responded to the report of a personal injury accident on E. 7th St. at 5:09 p.m.

It was reported that a 9-year-old girl had been hit by a vehicle while riding her scooter and had suffered serious bodily injury. The suspect vehicle had left the scene and failed to stop and render aid.

Officers later located the suspect vehicle parked behind a house, in a field, between two other vehicles. The vehicle had front end damage matching the color of the juvenile’s scooter, according to the GIPD.

The owner of the vehicle was identified as Jordon Miller and was contacted near the residence where the vehicle was left. Miller told the officers she had been in an accident and failed to stop, according to the GIPD.

Miller would be arrested for tampering with physical evidence and failing to stop and render aid.
