KEARNEY — Students that were a part of the University of Nebraska’s Digital Expression Camp visited the NRG Media studios in Kearney on Wednesday, June 4.

“The Digital Expressions Media Camp is for high school students with an interest in media. Campers range from incoming high school freshmen to graduating seniors about to enter college,” per UNK.

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association is a sponsor of the Digital Expressions Camp.

Mark Reid, NRG Media Kearney Operations Manager, led the tour and spoke about the history of AM and FM radio stations, the various formats, how the technology surrounding radio has changed, etc.

Reid also explained the three stations housed in Kearney, KGFW 1340 AM, which focuses on news, talk and sports, Hits 106, a top 40s station and Y102, playing the latest country hits.

Dallas Nau, Market Manager, also spoke to the students about the various career paths that were available including on-air staff, sales, traffic, editorial, etc.
