HASTINGS — Hastings Police Department won the 2025 Battle of the Badges blood drive competition with 63 votes, compared to 56 votes for Hastings Fire & Rescue.
There were 110 donors including eight Power Red donations (platelets). Power Red donations count as a second vote, for a total of 118 votes.
This is HPD’s first victory in the competition between the two departments since 2022.
Donors were able to choose whether to support Team Fire or Team Police with a voting ticket. Not every donor voted for one of the two city departments.
As part of Battle of the Badges, Hastings also competes against Grand Island and Kearney.
