HASTINGS — The new Libs Park Splash Pad is completed and will open to the public on Thursday, June 12.
The new splash pad was anticipated to be ready Memorial Day weekend, but the project saw a slight delay as the contractor wrapped up previously scheduled projects elsewhere in the state.
There were further weather-related delays. Rain prevented the laying of sod until Wednesday, June 11.
There was 8,000 square feet of sod laid on Wednesday. Additional sod will be laid in the area soon.
Please stay off the sod and bare dirt as the sod establishes itself.
Improvements with the new splash pad include more features, stainless steel so the features will hold up better than the fiberglass of the previous splash pad, better drainage.
Costs associated with the new splash pad are about $260,000, paid from the city’s allotment of the American Rescue Plan Act funds.
