Nebraska-Kearney tallied 359.50 points to finish 54th in the race for the 2024-25 Learfield Directors’ CupImage

The Cup is the Division II “All-Sports” Trophy, given annually to the school that scores the most points at NCAA Championships over the fall, winter and spring seasons. The Learfield Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. For the 2024-25 academic year, there were 304 Division II schools spread across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico with 259 scoring at least a half point at an NCAA Championship event.

Ranking fifth among MIAA schools, this is UNK’s second straight year with at least 350.00 points; the Lopers were 53rd last year (353.50). UNK’s top point total came in 2007-08 (494.50) with the best finish being 13th (2005-06).

The Blue & Gold scored 74.0 points in the fall, 120.50 in the winter and added 165.0 in the spring. Overall, UNK tallied points in men’s cross country, volleyball, wrestling, women’s indoor track & field, women’s golf, women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s outdoor track & field.

Not surprisingly, the MIAA had a strong showing as four members ranked in the Top 18. They were Pittsburg State (7th/709.0), Washburn (15th/556.0), Central Missouri (16th/554.0) and Central Oklahoma (18th/546.). As usual, Grand Valley (Mich.) State took home the Cup, tallying 1,080.50 points. The Lakers have won this award 17 times with Wingate (N.C.) a distant runner up at 837.25 points.
