KEARNEY — Members of the Kearney Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle accident on 2nd Ave. after a possible fire was reported during the early afternoon of Friday, June 13.

At 12:20 p.m., the Kearney Police Department (KPD) and Kearney Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) were dispatched to the intersection of 2nd Ave. and 22nd St. for the report of a vehicle accident and that one of the vehicles may be on fire.

On scene a red four door car with moderate front end damage and the airbags deployed had come to a stop in the northbound lane of 2nd Ave.

Firefighters inspected the car on scene but did not deploy any firefighting equipment as a result of the accident.

KPD shut down traffic lanes around the accident scene to await a tow truck.

Information about any potential injuries was not available on scene.
