ELM CREEK — Interstate 80 near Elm Creek was closed to traffic due to an accident that took place amid severe weather during the afternoon of Wednesday, June 25.
Around 3:20 p.m., while severe thunderstorms moved through central Nebraska, Elm Creek Fire and Rescue, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol were dispatched near the area of mile marker 255 on Interstate 80 near Elm Creek for the report of an accident that was blocking the east and westbound lane.
This area of I-80 is under construction, with the north lane closed and head to head traffic in the south lane.
According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, I-80 was closed between Lexington and Kearney.
