Beyond the Lens
Through the Beyond the Lens series, in partnership with The World Theatre, MONA presents a selection of films with cultural, aesthetic, or historical significance. At the center of each screening is the Museum’s mission to be a platform for the arts, bring people together, and encourage critical and meaningful engagement.

Broc Anderson, the Director of Historic Sites for History Nebraska, will present on the historical significance of the Black Hills and the Lakota people’s struggle to reclaim the sacred territory taken in violation of the treaty agreement.

Plein Air on the Bricks with Lois Smith
Meet outside the Museum to paint the scenery of Downtown Kearney, weather permitting, for anyone interested in exploring plein air painting.
July 10 | 9 – 11:30 a.m.
Cost: $30 members | $35 non-members | Registration required
This class is limited to 10 participants and is open to individuals ages 15 and up.
If you have watercolor supplies, please bring them with you. Suggested supplies are as follows:
140lb watercolor paper 9×12 at minimum
At least 3 brushes – the larger the better
Watercolor paints – whatever you have

Demonstration Series: Eco Printing with Jane Marie
Eco printing is a natural dyeing technique that uses leaves, flowers, and other plant materials to create patterns and colors on fabric or paper. The exact method and materials used can vary, but the result is a unique, one-of-a-kind print that captures the beauty of nature.
