HASTINGS — This summer, HCT KIDS proudly presents a vibrant and heartfelt rendition of “Children of Eden,” the beloved musical by Stephen Schwartz and John Caird. Set to captivate audiences with its timeless tale of family, faith, and redemption, this production promises to be a must-see event for theatre enthusiasts of all ages.
In a spectacular retelling of familiar biblical stories, “Children of Eden” weaves together the narratives of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Noah and his family, exploring themes of love, sacrifice, and the complexities of human relationships.
Directed by Colin Sandall with assistant director Morwenna Limper and musical direction by Erik Nielsen, known for their innovative approach to storytelling, this production promises to deliver both visual splendor and emotional depth.
The cast features a talented ensemble who bring these iconic characters to life:
- Adam and Eve: Adam Leonard and Arabell Limper portray the first man and woman, navigating the joys and challenges of life in the Garden of Eden.
- Father: Portrayed by Ezekiel Verhage; Father is both a stern and loving figure, whose interactions with his creations evoke deep emotional resonance
- Cain and Abel: Played by Akkadian Jorgensen and Brint Christensen, these brothers grapple with jealousy and reconciliation in their poignant story.
The production of “Children of Eden” is set to run Friday, Saturday and Sunday on July 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays are at 7:00pm and Sundays at 2:30pm. Hastings Community Theatre is located in Good Samaritan Village, 515 S 4th Ave, Hastings. Tickets are $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for children 11 and under. Tickets will be available online at www.hctheatre.org beginning June 30th. Tickets will also be available at the door on performance nights until sold out.
