GRAND ISLAND – A step back into time of the 1890s was the setting for Stuhr Museum’s July 4 celebration in Railroad Town.
The Silver Coronet Band, conducted by John Jacobs, presented a concert from the bandstand in Railroad Town. Many John Philip Sousa marches were played.
After that, patriotic speeches were read.
Prior to that, people visited various homes and businesses in Railroad Town. In the morning, there was a German language church service and the “firing of the anvil.”
An estimated 400 people attended the event. Approximately 75 to 100 Stuhr Museum volunteers were dressed in historic costumes.
