RED CLOUD — On Friday, July 11, World War II veteran Gerald Bartels will be presented with a recognition medal at Cherry Corner Estates by VFW State Commander Kenneth Yount and American Legion State Commander Judy Walters.
The ceremony is part of an initiative launched earlier this year by Governor Pillen and the Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs to honor Nebraska’s living World War II veterans. Information on the program is available at https://veterans.nebraska.gov/ww2.
