KEARNEY — In response to Eaton shutting down engine valve manufacturing and laying off over 200 employees, the Kearney Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a job fair in August for those impacted.

“The Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce has been in active communication with the Nebraska Department of Labor, the City of Kearney, the Development Council and other local partners to coordinate a community response,” Derek Rusher, President/CEO of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC) stated.

Rusher said, “Multiple organizations are coming together to support our workforce and ensure these individuals have a pathway forward. We are currently planning a job fair for August, specifically aimed at connecting impacted Eaton employees with new opportunities.”

“While the initial focus will be on manufacturing businesses, we will open participation to all interested businesses and organizations. Participation will be free of charge,” Rusher stated.

More information, including the date time and location of the upcoming job fair will be shared by the KACC. Businesses that are interested in participating should contact the KACC.
