Centennial Pool in Kearney, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

KEARNEY — Centennial Pool in Kearney has been closed since its recirculation pump went down. The city is currently working on getting a new pump and opening the pool soon.

According to the City of Kearney, the pump went down on July 18, and the city staff have ordered a new pump that fits the size of the pool.

Brenda Jensen, City Manager, told the city council during their meeting on Tuesday that due to the pump being down, the pool had to be drained.

The new pump is expected to be to be delivered in the coming days, but the pool will have to be refiled, reheated and chlorinated. The opening of the pool should be by the end of next week, Jensen said.

Until then, aqua Zumba and water aerobics will move to Harmon Park’s pool until further notice, from Monday through Thursday at 5:45-6:30 p.m.

Harmon Pool public swimming hours are Monday through Friday, 1-5 p.m. and 6:30-8:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1-8 p.m.
