NEBRASKA — The Nebraska Public Power District gave an update on outages that took place after the severe weather over the weekend.
NPPD had one notable outage to a retail town from the weekend storms, which was an outage to approximately 1,048 customers in Milford. The outage started at approximately 4:46 a.m. Saturday, with a majority of the customers restored by 4 p.m. that day, and all customers restored by about 10:47 p.m.
NPPD had a number of transmission structures damaged from the storms that passed through. The Saturday morning storm caused damage to approximately 103 transmission line structures, and the storm system that passed through late Saturday into early Sunday caused damage to approximately 96 transmission line structures. The structures that were damaged were all located in areas south of the interstate, from around the Superior, NE area to the east.
Currently, NPPD doesn’t have any storm-related retail customer outages. NPPD has been providing mutual aid support over the weekend into today, including 16 crew members supporting Lincoln Electric Systems, 11 crew members supporting Omaha Public Power District, 14 crew members supporting Seward.
