The Lincoln East Carpetland Rugs (Post 500) went 1-2 this weekend at the American Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina. They lost to Rockport, Indiana (Post 254) 6-5 on Friday, and bounced back with a 14-7 Saturday win over League City, Texas (Post 554). The Rugs were eliminated yesterday in a 16-10 loss to Portland, Oregon (Post 158).

ALWS GAME 1 (Friday): Rockport (Ind.) Post 254 d. Lincoln (Neb.) Post 500, 6-5
Andersen Smith allowed five runs and five hits in six innings of work to earn the win, and helped himself with a double and 2 RBIs at the plate, as Rockport (Ind.) Post 254 opened the 2025 American Legion World Series with a 6-5 win over Lincoln (Neb.) Post 500 on Friday.
Down 6-1 after four innings, Lincoln battled back with two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings. But Rockport’s Bronson Pund allowed just one hit in the top of the seventh to earn the save.
Carter Harmes hit a solo home run for Lincoln in the fourth inning.
ALWS GAME 8 (Saturday): Lincoln (Neb.) Post 500 d. League City (Tex.) Post 554, 14-7
Lincoln (Neb.) Post 500 hit three home runs in the top of the second inning, including a grand slam by Brodie McIntire, and Lincoln defeated League City (Tex.) Post 554, 14-7 on Saturday in Game 8 of the 98th American Legion World Series.
Lincoln’s win means all four teams in the Stars Division enter Sunday’s final day of pool play with 1-1 records. The winners of Sunday’s games will advance to Monday’s semifinals against the top two finishers in the Stripes Division.
Caden Schindler hit two solo home runs for League City.
ALWS GAME 11 (Sunday): Portland (Ore.) Post 158 d. Lincoln (Neb.) Post 500, 16-10
Carter Stewart went 3-for-3 with 5 RBIs, including a sixth-inning grand slam, and Portland (Ore.) Post 158 outlasted Lincoln (Neb.) Post 500, 16-10, in Game 11 on Sunday in the 98th American Legion World Series in Shelby, N.C.
The game lasted 3:15, a record for a seven-inning game. The ALWS switched to seven-inning games in 2018.
The victory sends Portland to Monday’s semifinals as the runner-up in the Stars Division to League City (Tex.) Post 554. Portland will face the winner of the Stripes Division at 4 p.m. ET Monday in the semifinals while League City will face the Stripes runner-up at 7 p.m. ET. The Stripes Division top finishers will be determined after Sunday night’s Game 12 between Asheville (N.C.) Post 70 and Greece (N.Y.) Post 468.
