LEXINGTON — On Monday, Aug. 18 at 9:33 p.m. the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was called to Highway 30 and Road 436 in reference to a vehicle pedestrian accident.
Upon arriving, Deputies contacted Cristofer G. Guzman, 19 of Lexington, who advised he had struck a person that was walking on Highway 30.
Deputies then located Angelina Navarrete-Chavez, 19 of Lexington, and proceeded to begin life saving measures. Ms. Navarrete was then transported to the Lexington Regional by priority medical where she was declared deceased.
Preliminary investigation of the incident shows that the Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Mr. Guzman was traveling eastbound on Highway 30 near road 436 when he struck Ms. Navarrete-Chavez who was walking in the lane of travel on Highway 30.
The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Nebraska State Patrol, Lexington Police Department, Lexington Fire an Rescue and Priority Medical. This is an ongoing investigation at this time.
