FUNK — The autopsies on the three adult males killed in Friday night’s multi-vehicle accident, that occurred at the intersection of HWY 6/34 and Road T in Phelps County have now been concluded.
As a result, the Phelps County Attorney’s Office is now prepared to release the names of those involved. The three adult males found deceased by first responders in the Chevy Silverado pickup are:
-Wallace R. Martin (age 67), of Holdrege
-Randall R. Franklin (age 36), of Funk
-Justin M. Mason (age 34), of Arapahoe
Final autopsy results for these 3 deceased individuals are currently unavailable as they are pending the outcome of additional forensic testing that typically takes between 4 to 6 weeks to complete.
The surviving driver of the F-250 pickup involved in the crash has been identified as:
-Brock W. Schneider (age 35) of Axtell
At last check, Mr. Schneider was still hospitalized and reported to be in serious condition.
The surviving driver of the Chevy Suburban involved in the crash has been identified as:
-Alyssa K. Kahle (age 35) of Minden
Ms. Kahle, is also still hospitalized and reported to be in serious condition. As indicated in our initial press release, a minor child passenger located in Ms. Kahle’s vehicle sustained no discernible injuries in the accident and was released from Kearney County Health Systems in Minden on Friday night to family members.
The investigation into Friday night’s accident is still on-going but is making rapid and meaningful progress. Among other things, investigators are currently reviewing video footage of the incident along with crash reconstruction data, medical reports and witness accounts to determine the cause of this tragic event. Investigators hope that preliminary findings of their analysis will be made available to the Phelps County Attorney’s Office within the next couple of days which will allow us to determine what happened and whether any criminal charges are necessitated.
Additional information concerning this incident will be provided as circumstances warrant and as further details emerge from the still on-going investigation.
