Former Kearney High boys basketball player Jacob Webber has committed to Purdue University for his college basketball career. His commitment was first reported by Rivals.

Webber, who transferred to La Lumiere Academy in Indiana before his senior season, chose the Boilermakers over a litany of schools, including the Huskers, Creighton, and UNO.

On last year’s 16-7 team which reached the District Finals, Webber led the team in scoring, averaging 21.7 points per game, while adding 3 rebounds per game. He played for Kearney for two seasons, transferring to the Bearcats after his freshman season at Scottsdale Christian Academy in Arizona.

Rivals ranked Webber as a 4-star recruit, and was the No. 31 overall player in the class of 2026. 247Sports has him ranked as the No. 134 overall recruit in the ’26 class, although the online publication mentioned that he is expected to make a leap in the rankings when they are updated this month.

This year’s Kearney team will look to replace nine seniors and Webber. They will start the season December 4 when Elkhorn South visits.
