TRI-CITIES — NRG Media – Central Nebraska radio stations hosted their ninth annual One for the Heroes event to honor active duty or retired military personnel and their families on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

The different stations were at various locations throughout the Tri-Cities with Hits 106 at Apple Market in Kearney, 107.7 The Island at Super Saver in Grand Island, Rock 101.5 at Five Points Super Saver and Y102 at Russ’s Market in Hastings.

“We really enjoy being able to help celebrate our vets and their contributions while in the military. Without their service, all of our daily lives would be much different,” said NRG Media Market Manager Dallas Nau.

A free lunch and t-shirt were provided to thank the service members and their families for their service to the United States and personal sacrifice.

While it may have been raining throughout the event in Kearney, veterans still braved the precipitation to receive a t-shirt and a free meal.

NRG Media has hosted a similar event in the spring, honoring medical, law enforcement and first responders.
