GRAND ISLAND — Curiosity got the better of a squirrel that caused a brief outage that affected around 5,000 Grand Island residents during the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 8.
According to the Spencer Schubert, City of Grand Island Communications Manager, the outage occurred at 11:30 a.m.
A squirrel crawled into and caused a fault in one of the substations which led to the outage that affected around 5,000 customers.
Crews were able to restore power in five minutes and resumed normal operations.
