Two Rivers Public Health Department, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)

KEARNEY – Two Rivers Public Health Department (TRPHD) is reporting the deaths of the fourth and fifth community members due to complications related to COVID-19 during the 2025–2026 respiratory season.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones. TRPHD continues to closely monitor all respiratory infections within the district, including influenza and RSV.

The individuals were residents of the seven-county Two Rivers Public Health Department District. In accordance with privacy standards and health information regulations, no further details about the individuals will be released.

A total of 8 individuals died from complications related to COVID-19 during last year’s respiratory season (2024-2025).

This tragic loss serves as a reminder of the importance of taking precautions during the current respiratory season. TRPHD encourages all residents to:

• Protect yourself and others by staying current on vaccinations.
• Practice regular handwashing and cover coughs and sneezes.
• Stay home when sick and test if symptoms appear.
• Look out for high-risk family members by keeping distance when you’re ill.
