MINDEN — An Indiana man has been charged with felony motor vehicle homicide following a fatal accident that occurred in Kearney County on Dec. 8.
Cory Rady, 30, of Indianapolis, Ind., has been charged with motor vehicle homicide – reckless/willful, a Class 3A felony; reckless driving – first offense, a Class 3 misdemeanor and violate a stop or yield sign, an infraction.
Rady was arraigned in Kearney Cout Court on Dec. 11, and his bail was set at ten percent of $20,000. A hearing in the case has been set for Dec. 18 at 11 a.m.
Rady has been charged in relation to a fatal two-vehicle accident that occurred around 7:32 a.m. on Dec. 8 near the intersection of Highway 10 and 50-A Link, according to the Kearney County Sheriff’s Office.
“The GMC SUV was traveling northbound on Highway 10 when it collided with a white Ford F-250 pickup traveling eastbound on the 50-A Link. The Ford’s driver, Cory A. Rady of Ind., and passenger, Damian Wells of N.C., were wearing seat belt restraints and sustained non-life-threatening injuries,” per the Kearney County Sheriff.
Both were transported to a local medical facility for treatment. The driver of the GMC was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Two independent witnesses provided statements at the scene.
“The driver of the GMC SUV, who was pronounced deceased at the scene, was identified as 45-year-old Saul Barboza Montano of Minden,” the Kearney County Sheriff’s stated.
