KEARNEY — Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from potential witnesses regarding a traffic incident that occurred on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop on an SUV traveling westbound out of Gibbon on Highway 30 near Navaho Road. Prior to the stop, the SUV was observed traveling westbound in the eastbound lane, nearly causing a head-on collision with two eastbound vehicles, which were forced to take evasive action to avoid a crash. The deputy’s emergency lights were activated at the time of the incident.
The driver of the SUV was subsequently arrested for DUI.
Sgt. Gibbs is seeking to speak with the drivers and any passengers of the two eastbound vehicles involved as potential witnesses. Their statements may assist with the ongoing investigation.
