LINCOLN — The Executive Board of the Nebraska Legislature met Saturday afternoon and, by an 8-0 vote, determined that expulsion was warranted in the matter involving Senator McKeon.

Senator Teresa Ibach was unable to attend the meeting due to weather-related issues.

After reviewing the circumstances, the Executive Board concluded that the decision was necessary in light of a demonstrated pattern of behavior by Senator McKeon and not in response to a single isolated incident. Board members emphasized that the action was taken to protect the integrity of the Nebraska Legislature and to uphold the standards expected of its members.

The Executive Board will continue to uphold its duty to maintain a professional and respectful working environment, which is essential to ensuring the Legislature functions effectively for its employees and for the constituents it serves

The recommendation does not constitute a final action and additional proceedings will follow in accordance with legislative rules and procedures.
