After finding out their football classification earlier this week, local schools found out their district assignments for the 2026 and 2027 seasons on Wednesday.You can find the full district assignment list for classes B, C1, C2, D1, D2, D3, and D6 on the NSAA Website.
The most notable changes for district play in the new cycle is the dissolution of District play in Class A, and the addition of the “emerging” district for Class B.
Class B districts were built based on the power point average over the past two seasons, with schools split into three districts of six teams. The remaining teams were placed in the emerging district.
York is in District B-2 with Gretna, Lincoln Pius, Norris, Seward, and Waverly. Aurora, Grand Island Northwest, and Hastings are paired up with Gering, McCook, and Scottsbluff in B-3. B-4, or the “emerging” district, will have Beatrice, Blair, Crete, Lexington, and Platteview.
CLASS B DISTRICTS
B-2: Gretna, Lincoln Pius X, Norris, Seward, Waverly, York
B-3: Aurora, Gering, Hastings, McCook, Northwest, Scottsbluff
B-4: Beatrice, Blair, Crete, Lexington, Platteview
Of the seven schools locally in C1, five of them are in C1-5. Adams Central, Broken Bow, Holdrege, Kearney Catholic, and Minden are part of C1-5, while Cozad is with the far western schools in C1-6, and Central City is with schools from the northeast portion of the state in C1-4.
CLASS C1 DISTRICTS
C1-4: Central City, Columbus Lakeview, ONeill, Pierce, Wayne
C1-5: Adams Central, Broken Bow, Holdrege, Kearney Catholic, Minden
C1-6: Alliance, Chadron, Cozad, Ogallala, Sidney
Class C2 is broken up into 5 districts this year, and C2-5 will have all local schools between Gothenburg, GICC, Ord, St. Paul, and Wood River. Doniphan-Trumbull and H&H are in C2-2.
CLASS C2 DISTRICTS
C2-2: Doniphan-Trumbull, Fillmore Central, H&H, Lincoln Lutheran, Malcolm, Wilber-Clatonia
C2-5: Gothenburg, Grand Island Central Catholic, Ord, St. Paul, Wood River
In D1, Central Nebraska schools are between districts D1-6 and D1-7. Arcadia/Loup City, Centura, Hastings St. Cecilia, Ravenna, Sandy Creek are in D1-6, while D1-7 has Alma, Amherst, Elm Creek, and Gibbon, alongside a long drive to Kimball
CLASS D1 DISTRICTS
D1-6: Arcadia/Loup City, Centura, Hastings St. Cecilia, Ravenna, Sandy Creek
D1-7: Alma, Amherst, Elm Creek, Gibbon, Kimball
D2 will see all eight local schools split between D2-4 and D2-5, and all of the local schools in D3 split between D3-6 and D3-7.
CLASSES D2 AND D3 DISTRICTS
D2-4: BDS, Fullerton, Kenesaw, Newman Grove/St. Edward, Shelton, Superior
D2-5: Arapahoe, Bertrand, Franklin, Loomis, South Loup, Wilcox-Hildreth
D3-5: Axtell, Blue Hill, Cambridge, Overton, Pleasanton, Southern Valley
D3-6: Anselmo-Merna, Brady, Maxwell, Mullen, Sandhills Valley, Sandhills/Thedford
In the D6 classes, District D6-3 is a majority of local schools, while Ansley-Litchfield and Elba are in D6-4, and SEM is in D6-5. McCool Junction is in D6-2, but are ineligible for the playoffs.
