HASTINGS — A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for parts of central Nebraska until noon on Wednesday, Dec. 24.

According to the National Weather Service – Hastings, the advisory is in effect for most of their forecast area, including the Tri-Cities and areas to the south and east. Visibility will be down to around a quarter of a mile or less in areas of dense fog.

“Through mid-morning, areas of fog, some dense and reducing visibility to around a quarter of a mile, will persist or still develop, then gradually dissipate/lift from late morning into early afternoon,” per NWS Hastings.

If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

“Please note that visibility will vary within the Advisory area, as fog will be worse in some places than others, and will develop/dissipate at varying times depending on location. Fog may not end up developing at all into the western fringes of the Advisory, including the Kearney and Holdrege areas,” NWS Hastings noted.

Additional fog concerns could develop Wednesday night and last into Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25, with additional Advisories a possibility.
