HASTINGS — The Cold Weather Advisory that has been in effect since Friday will be allowed to expire at noon on Monday. Temperatures are expected to warm near 50 degrees by mid-week, but another shot of Arctic air will follow late week.
According to the National Weather Service – Hastings, highs Monday afternoon will reach the mid-20s to mid-30s with overnight lows again dropping into the single digits and teens.
Temperatures look to warm back into the upper 30s and 40s for Wednesday, areas in Furnas County could even see the 50s. Drier weather is also expected as an upper-level ridge of high pressure building in the Western United States moves closer to the region.
However, this warm-up will be short lived as another shot of Arctic air moves into the region on Thursday and entrenches itself on Friday. NWS Hastings noted that this next round does not look as intense or persistent.
Model guidance does indicate an upward trend in forecast temperatures starting late next weekend and continuing the following week.
