FURNAS CO. — The Furnas County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a fatality accident that occurred around 10:44 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21 in the area of Road 425 and Drive 724.
Multiple 911 calls were generated by an automated crash alert system.
Deputies responded to the location and found a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, in the ditch. The vehicle had sustained extensive damage consistent with a rollover.
An adult female was located at the scene and identified as the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Alicia Tracy, age 35, of Arapahoe. Ms. Tracy had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Life-saving measures were attempted by Arapahoe EMS; however, Ms. Tracy was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound on Road 425 when it lost control, resulting in a rollover.
Speed is being considered as a likely contributing factor. Alcohol is also being considered as a possible contributing factor. Alcohol testing is pending, and a forensic download of the vehicle’s data recorder is scheduled as part of the investigation.
