Edgerton Explorit Center at the 2025 Nebraska State Fair, (Brian Neben, Central Nebraska Today)
Early this morning Aurora Fire Department A shift and C shift responded to a reported structure fire at Edgerton Explorit Center.
First due crews reported heavy smoke and flames in the aviary. Local 4956 VP and Firefighter/EMT Tim Jones donned full bunker gear and SCBA, and with the assistance of Aurora Nebraska Police Department was able to safely rescue Aquila, the American Bald Eagle.
Our hearts go out to the Edgerton Explorit Center on this difficult day.
