KEARNEY — Students from Kearney High School will travel to Lincoln on Thursday, March 5, 2026, to participate in Nebraska AP Day at the Capitol, a statewide advocacy event highlighting the impact of Advanced Placement (AP) education.

Students will attend with Kevin Witte, AP World History and AP Human Geography teacher, and Katie Brodine, AP English Language teacher, both members of the College Board Educator Ambassador Team. During the day, students will meet with state policymakers to share their experiences in AP courses and discuss how the AP program supports academic rigor, confidence, and college and career readiness.

“Nebraska AP Day at the Capitol gives our students a powerful opportunity to see how their voices matter,” said Kevin Witte. “They will speak directly with policymakers about their experiences in Advanced Placement courses and share how AP has challenged them academically, built confidence, and prepared them for college, careers, and participatory citizenship. It’s civics in action, and an experience they will carry with them well beyond high school.”

Students representing Kearney High School include:

• Brylee Chamberlain, Junior
• Koji Kitabake, Senior
• Colton Larson, Junior
• Audrey Watts, Junior

Nebraska AP Day at the Capitol is designed to bring the AP experience to life by connecting students and educators with state leaders and providing a firsthand look at the policymaking process.
