KEARNEY — The annual Tri-Cities Women’s March rotates among Kearney, Hastings, and Grand Island and this year, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, Kearney is hosting.
The event brings together hundreds of Central Nebraska residents to celebrate International Women’s Day with other Americans across the country.
The event is from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Harmon Park Activities Center, 3100 5th Avenue, Kearney.
The Women’s March focuses on ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including promoting inclusive legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws and practices, and addressing structural barriers to equality.
More than 20 vendors will provide information and materials about women’s health, LGBTQIA+ and women’s equal rights, opportunity for political advocacy, opposition to laws that further strip rights from women and trans people, and support for women and other marginalized populations
The event begins at 1 p.m. with speakers, refreshments, and prizes. The march will occur around 2 p.m. from Harmon Park south to 25th Street., west to 6th Ave, around the block, and back to Harmon Park Activity Center for a group picture. Those who attend are encouraged to bring a sign of their choice, a donation to the Safe Center in Kearney of full-size personal hygiene and cleaning supplies, and their enthusiasm!
“As the State Legislature, the Senate, and Congress continue to propose and enact laws that strip rights from women, our trans friends, hard-working immigrants, and other marginalized Americans, we must stand together in opposition to harmful legislation and protect one another,” said Joni Kuzma, Women’s March committee member. “Our peaceful march proclaims that we have the right to free speech, a right to vote, and a right to safety in our homes, streets, and communities.”
This event is organized by representatives from Kearney, Grand Island, and Hastings and is a non-partisan, public event.
