Nebraska State Patrol Troopers and Grand Island Police arrested a 17-year-old teen and recovered a stolen vehicle following a high speed pursuit Thursday night.
Thursday night at 9:20 a Chevy Impala was observed to be travelling at speeds of 90 mile per hour. A traffic stop was initiated by the trooper, however the driver refused to yield and a pursuit was initiated.
The suspect exited off I-80 at mile marker 314 approaching Grand Island at speeds of 100 miles per hour. The trooper disengaged from the pursuit out of public safety concern. Shortly after, GIPD located the vehicle and suspect, who fled by foot.
A perimeter was established by officers and troopers to locate suspect and take them into custody. Dispatchers confirmed the vehicle was stolen from Lincoln.
The 17-year-old male driver was taken to Lancaster County Youth Services Center in Lincoln following medical clearance.
