The Carter Canyon fire is 100% contained as of Monday.
Nathan Flowers, Gering Fire Chief reported that the fire southwest of Gering was fully contained. Flowers says that interior pockets of fire will continue to burn until all fuel is burned, or if it rains.
Fire crews will also continue to monitor for hot spots.
The blaze, which began on the end of July burned over 15,000 acres due to dry conditions. Two homes and 11 buildings were destroyed in total.
