A teen is in critical condition following a shooting in Grand Island, Monday.

Grand Island Police were called before midnight, Monday to a report of gunshots at Super Saver. Upon arriving on the scene, officers located handgun shell casings in the parking lot.

A 17-year-old teen arrived at CHI Health St. Francis later with gunshot wounds and is in stable but critical condition in Omaha.

Another teen has been charged in connection to the shooting. Jonathan Mejia-Cota, 17, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm, and tampering with evidence among other charges.

GIPD says the two teens met met buyers in the Super Saver parking lot for a drug deal. The shooter has yet to be identified. An investigation is currently ongoing.
