FROST – HUSKERS PREPARED FOR RAIN; ANY WEATHER:

Nebraska Football Head Coach Scott Frost was asked in his Thursday press conference whether or not the Huskers were prepared for some inclement weather for Saturday’s matchup… 

Nebraska faces Georgia Southern on Saturday night with kickoff set for 6:30 PM. 

 

FROST – 1 v. 1s WORKED WELL IN PRACTICE:

Head Coach for the Huskers Scott Frost elected to go with his starters against starters for the offense and defense this week in practice to get more “game speed” feels for his squad. Frost added in his Thursday post-practice press conference it helped the team get comfortable… 

Nebraska aims to keep up with the up-tempo offense of Georgia Southern on Saturday as kickoff is set for a rainy 6:30 PM. 

 

FROST – WAITING FOR MORE IMPACT PLAYS FOR SPECIAL TEAMS:

Husker Football Head Coach Scott Frost spoke on Thursday about his expectations for the Nebraska special teams for the upcoming contest against Georgia Southern… 

Frost and the Huskers completely revamped the entire special teams but is still looking for more consistency from their field goal and punt return units. 

 

FROST – GEORGIA SOUTHERN PREVIEW: 

Nebraska takes on Georgia Southern on Saturday night at Memorial Stadium under the bright lights in the capital city. Head Coach Scott Frost gave a preview of what to expect to see from the visiting team during his Thursday post-practice interview… 

Nebraska does not want to overlook Georgia Southern with a looming contest against Oklahoma on September 17 at Memorial Stadium.

 

FROST – GEORGIA SOUTHERN WILL RUN TEMPO:

Nebraska Head Coach Scott Frost was asked if he was concerned about what his defense may see against Georgia Southern in Saturday night’s matchup… 

Nebraska’s defense has struggled at times this season to get consistent stops, and will be tested by former Buffalo quarterback Kyle Vantrease, who started against Nebraska last season.

 

HUSKER VOLLEYBALL FACES FAMILIAR FACE SATURDAY NIGHT:

Fresh off a thrilling 3-2 win over No. 17 Creighton in front of a regular-season NCAA record crowd at the CHI Health Center, the Nebraska volleyball team returns home for a 3 p.m. match against Long Beach State on Saturday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Long Beach State is 4-1 with wins over Oregon State, Portland State, Boise State and Notre Dame. The Beach’s only loss was 3-2 to No. 19 Oregon. Tyler Hildebrand is in his first year as head coach at Long Beach State, his alma mater. Hildebrand was an assistant coach for Nebraska’s 2017 NCAA Championship team and returned as an associate head coach in 2020-21.

The all-time series record between Nebraska and Long Beach State is tied at 4-4

 

UNK VOLLEYBALL DOMINATE CONFERENCE OPENER:

The seventh-ranked Nebraska Kearney volleyball team moved to 52-7 all-time against Emporia State after a sweep of the Hornets Friday night in Kansas.

This was the MIAA opener for both. The Lopers (10-0) remain unbeaten while E-State falls to 2-7.

Things get tougher today when the Lopers are at No. 2 Washburn at 2 p.m. The Ichabods (9-0) got past an improved Fort Hays State squad (nine) tonight in four sets.

 

UNK WOMEN’S SOCCER GIVES ROUND ONE TO HAYS:

Freshman Montserrat Diaz scored about 15 minutes before half-time to help Fort Hays State down Nebraska Kearney, 1-0, Friday night at Ron & Carol Cope Stadium.

This was the non-MIAA game between the two teams this year. Hays (4-0-1) hosts the Lopers (0-4-1) in a league contest Oct. 23 in Kansas.

UNK heads to Washburn (4-0-1) on Sunday afternoon.

 

STORM DOWN DES MOINES IN PRESEASON:

The Tri-City Storm defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers by a final score of 4-2 Friday afternoon at the Tyson Events Center to improve to 2-0-0-0 in preseason play. 

Cameron O’Neill netted a hat trick during the game for the Storm. Brock James also scored a goal for Tri-City. 

Tri-City will play one additional game in this year’s USHL West Preseason Showcase event hosted by the Sioux City Musketeers today. The Storm will face the Fargo Force at 1:00pm CT.

 

HUSKER BASEBALL ANNOUNCES EXHIBITION MATCHUPS:

The Nebraska baseball program released its 2022 fall schedule on Friday, which includes a pair of road exhibitions.

The Huskers will square off with in-state foe Omaha in a 14-inning contest on Saturday, Sept. 24, a game time has yet to be determined.

Additionally, Nebraska will travel to Kansas on Saturday, Oct. 15, with first pitch set for 4 p.m.
