A candle-light vigil will be held Saturday, September 18 at 6:30pm at Harmon Park in honor of International Overdose Awareness and honoring those who have been lost.

The event will be offering support and resources to those still struggling with substance use and their families. There is a limited amount of luminaries. There will also be an opportunity to personalize bags for yourself and a loved one. Attendees are welcome to bring photos.

There will be a keynote speaker, music and more. People can and do recover.

Lights of Hope is presented by Region 3 Behavioral Health Services, Central Nebraska Council on Alcoholism and Addictions, South Central Behavioral Services, Buffalo County Community Partners, Behavioral Health Educations Center of Nebraska, The UNK Psychology Club, and the Central Nebraska Local Outreach of Suicide Survivors.

More information about the event can be found in our interview with UNK Psychologist Dr. Fritson and South Central Behavioral Services Peer Support, Maria Dischinger.
