A man was sentenced in federal court to ten years in prison for drug charges. Zachary Ellis, 28, of Hastings was sentenced for distribution of 50 grams or more of meth, and methamphetamine mixture. After serving the sentence, Ellis will serve another 5 years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.
On June 3, 2021, an informant under the direction of law enforcement purchased meth from Ellis at his residence. A lab confirmed the substance to be about 28 grams of meth mixture.
June 7th, the informant purchased again, getting around 55 grams of meth, a lab test finding that at least 53 grams were actual methamphetamine.
