A truck hauling hazardous materials caused I-80 to be closed for over 24 hours.
The crash happened at around 7 am Tuesday, between Shelton and Wood River on I-80, and involved a single vehicle. No injuries were reported in the accident.
The accident caused a leak of organic peroxides, which required specialized Hazmat cleanup. Crews from the Nebraska Department of Transportation, local firefighters and a hazmat team from North Platte worked to clean up the chemical spill.
Baricades were moved and I-80 opened by 9 am Wednesday.
