An Arizona man was sentenced to 11 years in prison on drug charges from a Hamilton County arrest.

On December 9 in Lincoln federal court, Jared B. Cain, 41, of Phoenix, Arizona was sentenced to 132 months in prison for one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine and 50 grams or more of actual methamphetamine. After serving is sentence Cain will be placed on a five-year supervised release.

In November 2021, Cain was traveling through Hamilton County on I-80 as a passenger in a vehicle rented in his name.

A trooper conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for traffic violations.

A consented vehicle search revealed nearly 33 pounds of suspected methamphetamine hidden in a duffel bag.

A lab analysis confirmed a total of about 14,713 grams of methamphetamine mixture in the packages and 4.7 kilograms of actual methamphetamine.
